Mojo magazine have given Yoko Ono a lifetime achievement award. Chief editor Phil Alexander says she's been "a huge influence on modern music". Hmmm. Many reckon she was a factor in breaking up The Beatles, so a dubious contribution there. Her relationship with Lennon was notoriously weird and stormy. Yes, she's kept his memory alive, but his talent and musical legacy would have ensured that anyway, and besides she benefits from royalties presumably. Her own music/singing/behaviour brought ridicule to Lennon's reputation and career. I can't think of any other artist she influenced, except conceivably mad little Bjork. Can anyone enlighten me?
