I think I've finished it, but as someone has already commented I can't seem to get into the mind of the compiler, this week. I have five clues that I'm nearly sure of, but I can't see the reasoning for the answers: 5d Being without enemies in the East End is commented on (7) N - T - T - D NOTATED, can't see why. 20d Employee on paper getting bottom pinched by admirer (9) S - B - D - T - R SUBEDITOR SUB is bottom, the rest? 22a Get wide, in time, to fill grand little jumper? (4, 4) - R - W - N - O GROW INTO grand G, INT in time? again obscure for me. 26d Possibly when locks long to play in scrum? (8) P - N - T - I - PONYTAIL, again lost. Finally 41d Stop Labour and Conservative slogan supporting open door policy? (5, 3) - L - C - O - F BLOCK OFF, or SLACK OFF? Could anyone, please explain for me? Thanks a lot.
Thanks very much. My wife and I had managed to work out NOTATED, PONYTAIL, and SUBEDITOR, whilst we were waiting for an answer, but GROW INTO and CLOCK OFF left us cold.
