Sash window help!
Hi,
My sash window will not go down fully, can anybody give me some advice please? The house is about 100 years old but the windows were rennovated 4 years ago. It refuses to shut fully - almost as if the 'mouse' at the end of the sash cord is jammed on something near the top. Am thinking of taking the window off to shorten the cord as I cannot see inside the sash channel for the blockage. Any suggestions would be appreciated!! Thank you, Emma x

The window was working fine until last week - the top one had become a bit stuck and I had (probably foolishly) banged at the pulley to get it to unstick - which it did - but now the bottom one is stuck up. I have a horrible feeling that somehow rubble was dislodged into the sash channel and that is what is blocking it but I'm not sure. It's ok when the weather is nice but I know it won't last!
Hi it could be what you said if you heard possible ruble fall that would prevent the sash weight going up fully ,so stopping the sash to fully close if you press sash down does it try to close on one side only ?can you pull on the cords to try to close. if you are not able to, then I'm afraid it could be a major strip down, to remove jammed in objects out of the weight boxes, you may get results by removing the pulley wheel and prod through the opening to dislodge any debris hth Tez
