Could the answer to clue 34 be William Thomas who invented the Wind-wagon in 1853. that would be both wagon and boat.

That was what I thought at first as well, but there was someone else who invented a similar one, I can't remember his name, though.  I am stumped on this one as well.  I think that since it says "for most it meant going west by wagon and boat" I think the person actually went west, farther? than wind wagon thomas.  I am leaning toward JMS due to the fairfield history society quote here  http://www.fairfieldhistoricalsociety.info/  Look at wagons and scroll down through the whole prarie schooner bit.  Hey do you have a verified answer for #26??

could be i will do some searching.
I had that answer at first then I changed it, this is one of the two that I don't have a good answer for.  I thought prairie schooner by John Mohler Studebaker because I found a website that said it was water-worthy, but that is the only website that I found that said that.  There was also another guy that did the same thing as Wind Wagon Thomas, but I can't remember his name.  There were also people who invented steam-wagons, so I don't think it would be the wind wagon, because it wasn't water-worthy right and it didn't go very far.  Good Luck, if you have a verifiable answer for #26 I would love to have it!!
Yeah that was the other guy, Gail Borden, that is why I don't think Wind-wagon is a good one.  Just my thoughts.....Good luck
Ok who are you really??!!!  You have replied to my question for sugarbritches from hippie44 then again from kjmckinnon46 what is going on?!!  Are you just doing this to mess with people?  Then there is this post you replied to yourself?  Or is someone else posing as you?  Look at my question in this quiz catagory and see the answers, this is crazy.  (My question is titled Camhead or Thomas or Sugarbritches)

kjmckinnon46 is me Sugarbritches, I don't know who hippie44 is. Anyway Thomas and I had a E-mail chat and James Logan is the inventer of the wagon-boat. if you go to Ask Jeeves and type in James Logan-conestoga-wagon you will get your answer. Good Luck and sorry for the confusion.
Yes I spoke with Thomas too, but there are too many sites that say the conestogna wagon didn't float and that was the only one that did say that.  I am still not convinced.....We'll see if I can comeup with anything else, still look at my original question and look at who wrote what in my answers it looks like you are hippie44 and kjmckinnon46 and sugarbritches!!  My original question is in this catagory with called "thomas or camhead or sugarbritches"

quest2634 I am kjmckinnon46, that is my name and age, but my E-mail is sugarbritches46 and that is why it shows the mckinnon on the bottom, but I was telling everybody that they could get more help from sugarbritches46atmyway so they could E-mail if they wanted too. As far a hippie44 I have no clue as to who it is and why they are pretending to be me. Oh well, hope you do well on the contest and leave real answer to us that didn't so we know if we were right or wrong. Thanks for the chit chat.
Ok, well thanks and good luck to you too.  I still haven't found what I would call "good" answers for #26 or #34.
