Thank you everyone - sorry for apparent lack of interest, very busy - wife's arm in sling! But I found the answer myself in the end...anacrusis!
OK, but this is not an Italian word. It is in English from Greek and Latin. No wonder we didnt suggest it. Hope your wifes arm is better soon.
