Anyone else dislike the Mail on Sunday's decision to have a text method to enter the General knowledge croosword. Now you only have to do no more than 8 solutions before you have it completed. From which method will they choose each week to select the winner. You would need to enter by both methods to be sure of having a chance of being selected. I will probably not bother now. the fun has gone out of it.

I thought it was just an extra competition, didn't realise they would pick a winner for the big prize on the strength of a text message. Luckily I put the answer in the grid. As you say could we be wasting our time and money on postage. It could be an excuse for them to make the prize money from the fools who will pay the 1 plus for the text message, as you say it spoils it for serious xworders. It is more fun to complete the xword and post it.
The fun for me is completing it, learning stuff, then chucking it.
The Puzzlemeister has probably discovered the answerbank and realises how many are cheating!
I think its an extra competition and have sent my xword off as usual, will the newspaper clarify ?
To Hangdbadlady. What on earth is a serious XWorder? probably someone who hasn't a clue how to TXT or someone who is too tight to pay what is in fact only just over the cost of two postal entries!
