My boyfriend and his friends use a 'language' that they claim one of their friends at school made up, however, another lad (who went to a different school) claims that it was made up by one of his friends. The 'language' is similar to Pig Latin in that it is English but mixed up, basically they put 'ay-l' after the first consonant sound so cat becomes 'cay-lat' and bank would becom 'bay-lank'. My question is- has anyone else come across this 'language'?
Yes but Pig Latin isn't quite the same. With Pig Latin the words would become igpay atinlay whereas in the 'language' I'm on about it would become Paylig Laylatin. There are some examples on Wikipedia but none of them with the ayl in, can see where the general idea comes from but wondered if anyone has heard the one I'm referring to or if it's a localised thing?
When I was a teenager ( oh what a long time ago) we used to put AG in front of every vowel that was pronounced, I was led to beleive that it was some sort of prison slang, the idea being that the warders wouldn't have a clue what was being spoken
