Please can anyone help.
No 8 This could have been a wheeled hawk.
No 22 A pale asp.
both these are rivers (number of letters not known.)

You're welcome - I've had no luck with the others though, maybe bumping this back into the recent posts list might bring it to more people's attention.
OK LAST NEWT = Knott (mountain) Swale (river)

d'oh - i've just twigged that the anagrams are not a single name shared by a mountain and a river but 2 separate names...
PAY TOWN FYNE = Pan Y Fan (mountain) Towy (river)
* should be PEN Y FAN
8 BARROW

dictionary definitions:

barrow - a cart, typically having 2 wheels, used by street vendors

hawk = to offer for sale, as in the street (so a wheeled hawk could mean from a barrow)
