MM Links Solutions August 2009 [Week 4]

It proved yet another healthy round as the fourth week in the reign of Pope Adrian aka twix123 provided an opportunity for some in the chasing pack to catch up tearinghair who has led the field for the last couple of rounds. Perhaps the latest set of chosen Link Words was not to her liking? Judge for yourself, as I reveal the links under the theme of The Sporting Life were:

Once again, the Shrubbery Squad proved to be good �sports� with a liking for things �alcoholic�. Opening the attack again was roslyn with RUGBY FOOTBALL with ulysses100not far behind ~ each picking up TWO POINTS. An equally early double strike was achieved by x-ray spotting FRENCH CRICKET and FAMOUS GROUSE for FOUR POINTS. With three of the links discovered pretty promptly, it soon became �open season�.

This impressive start attracted the attention of cliffyg, who scored Four Points; whereas missmeg was slightly delayed at 09.04 to pick up Three Points for the same two hits. Timewise, the last to pick up bonus points was paulineward under the �affluence of incohol� with a Famous Grouse in hand at 09.04.

In the midst of all this activity, in came the mighty Strix at 09.03 with all three discovered hits to score a magnificent SIX POINTS! A worthy effort, well deserving of the coveted title of HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK!

With only JOCKEY CLUB to go, I was eagerly awaiting the predictions of jobjockey, but he came and went without scoring. Equally surprising was evsajo declaring �Rubbish choices as usual� and then proceeded to pick up a Point for French Cricket! That�s two weeks in a row!

The game marched slowly ticked onwards with JOCKEY CLUB still unfancied, until a filly came up on the rails as the very last entrant went for a photo finish. You may not be surprised to hear that it was kettledrum playing her trump card to pick up the last TWO POINTS! How does she do it?

Well done all scorers. I thought my guesses were a bit too obvious, and so it proved. Sets the stage for an interesting final week, though!

My success on this week reads a bit like part of an autobiography, but if I had been concentrating further, considering we have horses, I should have had a "full house" or should that be "stables" !!

Well done strix - I will confirm you as the hot shot although Pauline refuses to do so.......just a bit of fun of course .........which is what this game is all about.
Next week looks like a real cliff hanger for the final week.... three points separating nine of us.
