MM Links September 2009 [Week 3]
40 Answers
Good morning and Welcome to the third week of my reign as Lady Jill. As the weeks go by, I become less and less like my nom de plume of tearinghair and more serene as a Lady ought to be!
I note that there were not quite so many points awarded during the last round. Will this week continue the downward spiral, or will you all now see the (twisted) way in which my mind works?

You may not be aware, but the Royal Shakespeare Theatre is currently undergoing a complete transformation. I drove past it a few days ago and they seem to be making good progress; the surrounding area is looking very attractive. There are several excellent amateur theatres to be found in the neighbouring towns – no doubt attracted by the influence of the Bard. .
Music also plays an important part in the cultural life of the region. As well as folk festivals, there are modern and classical music festivals, pop concerts at Warwick Castle, and workshops for aspiring young musicians, both singers and instrumentalists. I have to admit that my interest in pop music peaked in the late 1950s and early 60s (Buddy Holly, the Everly Brothers) and later I moved to more Easy Listening (Dr Hook, Neil Diamond, Chris de Burgh). Nevertheless, classical music has remained a constant love, although I now prefer the melodic strains of a piano concerto to the triumphal bells and thunderous cannon of the 1812 Overture (the first LP I ever bought).

I must confess that Art – in the sense of painting – is a closed book to me, though I do dabble in photography. (There’s a story about a picture of a weeping willow I may tell you some time!) I think it’s true to say that Art probably takes third place in this area (behind the theatre and music) though the local artists’ groups might take issue with me on that!
What is not at issue is that I shall follow the rules relating the word length as introduced by crofter. Each of my chosen link words contains at least four letters and at most eight. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one or more of your attempts! Each of my selected words may go in front of or after my challenge word. The competition will officially close at 7.00pm on Sunday evening when my selected words will be declared, and points awarded in the usual manner. My third set of words to be linked should appear below at 9.00am.
