Weight loss - Motivation

Hi guys,
First time poster here - bear with me.
5'7" and size 16 - and I want to lose a bit of weight. I'm not one of these stupid women who will take drastic measures or potions to lose it and I'm fully aware that what I need is to watch my portion sizes, alcohol intake and regular exercise.
Where I do mirror a lot of these women though is the motivation to begin! Where/how do I start ?!
I'm in a full time job, and I also study part-time, usually to around 8:30 most evenings.
Any tips on how to motivate myself??
I basically want to feel a bit better about myself, have more confidence etc.

I don't know that there's anything I can say that's particularly motivating to begin with other than you just have to get up and do. Pick a date and time to start and begin regular exercise... It's more or less what I did (I was putting on more weight very quickly as I gave up smoking in June) so I just looked at a class time table and picked some to go to. The motivation to carry on doing it is that I am starting to see results and people comment on how I look and also, turns out I actually enjoy how I feel after the classes. I also had a personal trainer for a bit and I found that easier as someone was requiring me to be somewhere at a specific time and he would also ask me what I'd been doing during the week.
I have a goal too. I'm going to Australia at christmas to see my sister so I want to look as good as possible for that and there's a little bit of good natured sibling rivalry (we're actually very supportive of each other) over who can have the most muscles by December. (Going on holiday is also why the personal trainer is temporarily on hold, something had to give in the finance stakes!)
I find classes best as I absolutely hate the gym. Knowing what you don't like and what you want to achieve is a start. So for example... I do a body combat class on a Monday which is an hour of pure hell but by God does it get your heart pumping, then on Tuesday and generally one other day a week I do a body pump class which is basically a conditioning/cardiac class with lots of weights. I also swim at the weekends and whenever I get a chance, 4 lenths breast stroke, one length front crawl (bring your heart rate back up and conditioning) for 100 lengths (this takes me an hour but I'm a fairly good swimmer, others can di it in much less time or indeed longer. I started out just doing 25 and then upping it as I felt more energetic) or alternatively 25 lengths of non-stop front crawl for a bit of a buzz (only just started doing this, I will probably increase it when it stops hurting so much!) I'd like to do a thai chi class and probably a pilates class if I can find the time. I actually sort of enjoy all these exercises but I hate running or the rowing machine or spin classes or aerobics, maybe you'd like those? Have a think about it.
Ultimately, once you start, keep forcing yourself to go, there's nothing particularly motivating in the beginning, it's a pain and a chore... But you will start liking how you feel and the compliments you get when results start to show.

Initially I had to force myself! :c) You get more energy the more you do.
As to time... I have a gym/class time table stuck permenantly to my desk at work and one at home and I update it every couple of weeks (classes change sometimes). I sort of plan my work around what it is I want to do. My part-time work isn't set hours but I aim to get it out of the way by Sunday so I know I'll be given stuff to do Tuesday which means if I want to work out on Wesnesday then it's either an early session in the pool or an evening session in class but I then have to forgo an hour of my 'down' time in the evening to ensure the letters get typed. (Having the time table is a big help, as is the fact that my gym is close to both where I work and live).

Well what can I say ...... My motivation is my boyfriend. I'm 5 foot and 15 1/2 stone. I want to have a full sexual relationship with him - but we haven't found a comfortable position yet. Losing a conciderable amount of weight will hopefully make it easier, and improve things no end. So I repeat - My motivation is the prospect of SEX.
