I've got the (an?) answer to 38. I can't see the connection to 37 though - which is surely implied by the dots?

There is no connection to the answers of 37 and 38 ........ The dots are just a connection between skipper and second mate .

Have been reading all the usual bickering going on about whether or not we should be asking for help, now or at any time, on answerbank. As I have said in previous quizzes, I think it's a shame that people are so disapproving, and that if they can't stand the heat........so to speak. I don't ask for answers, just clues, and am willing to gove some back. We are not all as smart as each other. I would never imagine finishing, or nearly finishing this one a couple of weeks after starting it, just haven't got that sort of brain. I love looking through reference books, internet and anywhere else for help, sharing it with my friend with long regular phone calls and yes, coming here for inspiration as well. Like I said before, so what? The money still pours in for the charity and if people disapprove of it then don't come on here. Anyway, getting back to help........ number 2...Aboard boat there's a hard, murderous Indian (4) and number 16...A parking complaint made by an American - in Paris (6) are two of the many I still need clues on please. Will gladly try to help anyone with others if I can.

Sorry Teacher1, can't be switched on this morning. Several 4 letter words for ruffian but cannot see the connection. One begins with L one with H one with G but just not sure why they would be correct
