You are correct that there used to be a Moore sculpture in York. The sculpture was Upright Motive No.9 1979 (LH 586a) and was on loan from the Henry Moore Foundation and sited outside York Cathedral. We believe that Moore's sculptures benefit from a change of location from time to time, so that they can be appreciated in different types of settings - landscape or architectural, and provide exposure to Moore's work in different parts of the world. This sculpture can now be seen in the sculpture garden at the Museum of Modern Art in Tel-Aviv. Other casts can be found nearby at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and also in Tamarind Park, Honolulu; Hofstra University; Nelsen-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City; private collection on loan to Philadelphia Museum of Art.
