Good evening all. Have just been reading throught the posts on htis thread, great clues everyone.
I still have about 20 yet to do, so am still having a go at it now and again.
I noticed teacher1 that you have completed and posted your entry.. Surprised about not having a copy - I am typing my answers onto the downloaded copy on my computer - so the answers are there and also easy to change them.
I notice you are still being rebuked by sprinter - I think teacher has a point when he says that the more entries, the more money for the charity...so it's good to know so many of you are chasing these extra clues.

Welcome back xray. I always photocopy mine when it arrives and work on the copy, then transfer onto the original to post back. 2 years running I have made silly mistakes by leaving off s at the end of the word, knocking me back to 97.5 last year. Am determined to be more careful this time. I have returned it before when I still have quite a lot unsolved but would never not send it back, even if, as the compilers say, I only had 10 or 20 correct. They are always for such good causes. I have only got 2 still to solve. Have had lots of good hints from my regular friends on here although I had solved over 60 before i started looking. With one or two noted exceptions we are all a friendly helpful lot of people who love quizzes, as simple as that. Anyway, start asking for hints when you are ready. Lots of luck.

I download mine as a word document, and type in the answers. That way it looks a lot better, and word sometimes helps when I have made a silly mistake with spelling.

Hi xray Just got on here and my old friend teacher 1 has answered your query. Any more you need help with? I haven't ventured on to the crossword solver site, seem to get all the help I need on this one and anyway I'd miss you know who!!! I have painstakingly gone through every dictionary I have and finally got 42......should have done that sooner. So, only the wretched old policeman to find.

I think the answer to 73 is the one I thought it was all along but didn't know why. My friend who doesn't own a computer and with whom I share clues found a different meaning for this word in a very old Oxford dictionary so I think that must be correct. In which case I have finished as well. Woopee!!

Evening mtsgirl - so you've finished !!! No.73 sounds as if you have the same as me, I too was unsure until I found out another meaning for the word.
Gradually getting there, it's a very good quiz this - on a par with the Dragonfly quizzes. I believe crofter is in the throws of giving us another - Dragonfly V very soon.

Xray and teacher1 Haven't done the dragonfly quizzes before....at risk of being shot down in flames again by you know who, do we download them and when please? Or do I need to get a super version Chambers to find out the answer to that??
