Try 1000 in roman numerals is M, then anagram lingers.
Surveyors problem concerns Rigsby TV comedy.
United could be Artists.
Trendy could be Dynasty.

Geoff, thanks so much! Im still wondering if Artists could be the answer - is this a TV programme or anything?? I originally thought Friends as in (friends reunited??). Also, I still cant get the "avoid paperwork", 7 letters - someone previously said 5 letters as to avoid and 2 letters as document abbreviation. Any ideas - ur so clever at this!!! thanks ever so.

jacqui5 - I now think that 54 is "chic" and "ago", and avoid = dodge while ms is short for manuscript, thus dodgems.
I like Friends rather than United.

Hi Geoff, thanks for that - think you are right with Chic ago and will go with that! Someone else suggested "Kingdom" for "an offence in the monarch's school". Do you think this is right? I can see where the king comes from but not the dom - what does that have to do with an offence?? Im not so good at these cryptic clues!! I think Friends is better for the "this may be united" as Im not sure that Artists really answers the clue as a programme, film etc. Just two more for you to clarify for me if you could and they are:
