Below is a criptic clue from a radio station in ireland. The answer can be a person, place,hot topic, etc.. That would have made the headliness both nationally and internationally in the last twelve months.
Any idea's would be greatly appreciated.
"The rosary could not save its faith, nor the placards held so high. The drum roll played out on that fateful date and those in power let ou a sigh?

The let out a sigh would suggest something to do with the Lisbon Treaty referendum to me as it took two votes to get it passed in Ireland and if it failed the second time there would probably have been a general election. Don't know were the rosary comes into play though.
