Is it just me or are the clues mixed up this week? For example, the answers for 12a, 13a and 26a don't match the allotted spaces.
Any ideas on this???

You're absolutely right. I havent worked it out yet but Lew Hoad Alan Mills and president Sadat dont fit where they should. The FT website shows the same grid and clues so I suppose it is a case of watch this space.
If you put the second L of Mills on the black square, and fill in the next white square, 13a then comes from the end of 6d and has 7 letters. OK. Fill in the white square at the end of Lew Hoad. The grid now has symmetry and the answers fit.
Yes, I phoned them just after nine am this morning to point out that the grid was wrong, & that black square 8a, 5d should be at 10a, 5d, & that the black square at 10a, 13d should be at 8a, 13d. They thanked me, but now at six thirty this evening no correction has been made to thegrid! Also why do the sub editors not place the crosswords with an advert behind them so cutting out the entry to post it doesn't interfere with the editorial content on theback?
Upstart.
