Problems with a neighbour/ also using my garden
5 Answers
I moved into my house 3 years ago shortly after I moved in my neighbours grandson broke into my house whilst I was out and helped himself to my stuff. He was caught and given a 6 month good behaviour order (joke) and since then the family have made my life hell for being a 'grass'. Along with the threats there have been annoying things such as take-aways I never ordered coming to my door, taxis, social work- saying I had been spotted slapping my son's face outside my house (totally untrue and thankfully they realised this) police coming to my door at 5 in the morning saying a neighbour had phoned to say I was drunk in my front garden and my son was crying inside (another lie which police marked as malicious and I think the woman was either cautioned or charged)and complaints to the council saying I'm listening to loud scottish music at 4 in the morning and that I'm not staying in the house. I admit I haven't been staying in the house as I am fed up of hassle and afraid of what they could do next. Does anyone know what I can do about this? I am hopefully swapping with someone in the next few weeks if the council approve it but I don't want them going through the same thing. To get to the other part of my question, I went down to pick up mail earlier to see they have completely taken over my garden. They have various car parts and god knows what else all over my garden. We have our own gardens but there is no fence to separate them. How can I get them to move it? Approaching them will probably get me a sore face so any other ideas appreciated please.

It sounds as if both you & these neighbours are Council tenants. If so, the Council should really have done something effective about it long ago. It's probably too late for you to do anything much if (as you hope) you are moving out, but if the Council know about the problems and haven't done anything you could involve your local Councillor and see if he/she can get the Council to act.
This sounds like the sort of family the members of which need an ASBO. There surely must be enough evidence for this bu now. Ask the Police why they cannot do this. Following a formal process is the only legal way to get such people shifted - unless you haven't got the stomach for any more and move away first. Hardly fair.
