Does anyone know if you have to get dressed up to go in Raffles Hotel or can you be casual in shorts?

We went into the Long Bar in shorts - But I would think it would depend on when and where in the hotel. Probably you may need to dress up a bit if you went to dinner there.
Jim is correct....casual dress in the Long Bar.
Different rules for different people; locals set the tone by dressing formally and you would be a beacon if you weren't dressed demurely. Town clothes by day, cocktail & ties evening.
Linda....don't get too excited.....I found Raffles Hotel disappointing.........much better hotels to drink, eat and stay in.
I agree with Sqad, go and have a look round (daytime in casual clothes). There are much better and cheaper places to eat and drink. We paid over the odds for 2 Singapore Slings which contained very little booze.
I was there two weeks ago, well worth a visit just to see the random peanut shells all over the floor! The Singapore Sling is worth it too! We went dressed up, and the majority of people in there are, but I don't think you need to be dressed up. It just makes the occasion a bit more special I guess!

After going there, I would STRONGLY recommend going to the other great bar in Singapore, think it is called Equinox, for a cocktail or two. It is very near to Raffles, on the 70th floor of a skyscraper! AMAZING views of the city and beyond, we went just before dusk (so 5pm ish) so we saw it in daylight and night.

Enjoy! I loved Singapore, think it is a great place for a few day stopover en route to Australia or wherever!
