I've been wondering how to this for a while, so if your bored with my LOLers and PMSLers, I will change, I promise, till I get bored with them wanway !!!!!
heres how to do it...

1. Make sure your keyboard is in NumLock mode.
2. Hold down the ALT key and enter the number on the numeric keypad. (Note that many laptops have a blue FN key that changes a set of keys, also with blue numbers on them, into a numeric keypad.)

mines a DELL jumbuck, but np here
♥ arhhhh
it won't work on my laptop because it's a windows feature, and I don't run windows.
Well you are ♂'d without WIndows ☺
can you do it on any programm on windows?
Yeah pretty much any program in windows
Question Author
Chucks you're the maestro here pet, at least I know you know what you are talking about he-he
whereas me ?????
Yes, the normal keys send a keycode that the system understands, this method inputs a keycode value directly e.g if you do ALT-065 you get A, ALT-066 gives B and so on i.e. the letters of the alphabet. I can't remember if the keycode always equates to the ASCII code.

It is independent of which program is being used because it's a function of the keyboard, and so there ought to be a way to do the same on non-Windows machines.
it's not a function of the keyboard, it is a windows function, on linux I have to use unicode codes for the same effect (I hold down ctrl+shift and press u, that turns my curser into a underlined U, then I type in the code for whatever character I want)

Btw Bobbi.... how do you "unindate" ?

;-)
Question Author
just errrm, don't date..he-he
Just ignore me hun.... I'm in an impish mood today ! lol
Well I'm fairly sure that it or a very similar method used to work in DOS before WIndows first appeared.
