WFI Christmas Quiz No 23

Please could anyone kindly help me with my last answer. I'm not sure if I have misunderstood the question - I've tried to research it on the web but I can't make sense of it. The only reports I have read have been BY what level did he raise the tax, not TO what level he raised the tax.
Question: To what level did Gordon Brown raise tax on beer and other alcohol in his budget this April?
Thanks for any help

and on beer to £16.47 per hectolitre percent of alcohol in the beer and the net effect was a two percent rise -it gets more complicated because wines, cider etc it depends on their strength I don't know if that helps but I did try-did you look at the Customs and Excise website?

Thank you very much for your reply and many apologies for the delay in sending my thanks, as I didn't expect such a quick response and I've only just got around to looking at this site again.
It's much appreciated and I think your reply would be perfectly acceptable but I am going to have a look at the Customs and Excise website just for the fun of it. (I agree with the confusion about Alistair Darling, too.)
Thank you again and Season's Greetings.
