Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

(Re-posted) Help!! Anyone anything - just an easy one so I can see how it works. I just can't get started. Thought I was getting somewhere with 11A - demeter ?meter gamete etc but nothing came out.

What is the clue? What letters have you already got?

Sorry, but this is one I haven't even begun to think about yet (the closing date is Jan 2, and there are other puzzles on shorter deadlines and that's not to mention everything that's happening in the real world!)
Just a thought - maybe 'abacus' rather than 'meter' might be a fruitful line of enquiry? I'm sure this will be discussed in the days ahead.

It's pretty tough and I am not quite there yet. It's hard to find a single clue in which none of the three words in the answer is obscure (unless you are a Scottish lexicographer!). For what it's worth, I found the contents easier than the wrappings and I solved 19A first. Bathtub is on the right lines for 11A.

bobshawaddy, don't forget that Chambers, not the internet (with the one exception noted in Azed's preamble) is the source here. If it's not in Chambers, don't go there.

Even when you guys spell it out for me I'm still stuck. OK soroban orobanches ches?. What's ches? from part of rest of the clue and then if I understand the method correctly what still remains of the clue gives sorobanches? (same ?). Are you saying I need a Chambers dictionary to get anywhere? One of those paper things with cardboard backing. I don't have one - I chucked it out when I replaced my soroban with a PC.

Whoa - not wanting to boast or anything but I just got one - all by myself - well OK me and the internet - and also no doubt the brain was stimulated by having just knocked back my nightly mug of ptisen (leaves Horlicks for dead). Still woudln't mind knowing the missing letter to 11A.

The word you're missing in 11a is CHESS (not in the ordinary sense, but an American term for a type of grass found growing with wheat.

Thanks bathtub - I only now see what was meant by "consectutive jumble ... ", "beginnning at..." etc in the instructions.
