In the beatles song Ticket To Ride, what ride was the ticket for, all I know is that it is a 5 letter word, please help!

Apparently this song was wrote after John was in Holland. Apparently, their government provides a document saying a lady can legally be a prostitute....this piece of paper is her 'ticket to ride'. This might just be a rumour, but if it is true it brings a whole new meaning to the line : 'For she would never be free when I was around'.
