Some locking of horns recorded by Howell (5)
D-E-L
The only word I can think of is DWELL, but don't know what that's got to do with Howell. Or could it be an archaic spelling of DUEL?

I think there may be a reference to this in his Epistolae Ho-Elianae, but I can't open it up as it requires a subscription. If he did mention it he likely would have used the same spelling as Donne and Lovelace - duell.
