As you see, this is not Crofter opening up the shrubbery - it is his deputy dogsbody instead.

The last few days have been hectic. First fordward declined the crown and then Crofter found he was going to have to leave the croft (and the internet) for the next few weekends. It was Wednesday afternoon that the news landed in my inbox and I had to find a setter PDQ - not just any setter but one who could come up with the goods at short notice. That meant a previous winner, and what more worthy a candidate than the top scorer for March, our great friend Strix. Thank you Strix for agreeing to step in at short notice.

We can therefore expect “Strix the Saviour” to post his first MM Links tomorrow morning; starting at 08.45am and declaring the four words to be linked at 09.00am, when the MM Links game kicks off in earnest. Remember, in the MM Links Game, first hits (or repeated hits within 2 minutes) gain bonus points!

Of course, you should also look out for the exciting, high-scoring international version of this same game, which is called KM Links and kicks off at a much earlier hour but there is nothing to be gained in that game by playing early - the timing of your KM posting is deemed to be irrelevant. The more hits you are able to register, the more points you score. The regular organiser of KM Links comes all the way from Oz and goes by the name of “seekeerz” (aka Steff) who cheerfully does a sterling job week after week.

Now why not chance your arm at both Link Games?” They remain open for most of the weekend and all entries are scored and entered on to master scoreboards. This is the start of a new month and so everyone starts off equal again on zero points. Who will get a 'mention' for being high on the leader-board? Who will be the 'Hotshot of the week'?

Watch for tomorrow's posts and find out.

gen2 :-)
Good to have you in charge Gen2 - I'm sure the abacus and the links by Strix are in good hands. Hope crofter isn't ill?
Oh no...not Strix! That's me done for!
My laptop has gone in for repair...I feel like I have lost my right arm!
I am having to *** quick 'goes' in between my daughter mailing her mates and surfing! Will pop in again asap...hope you are all well.
What have you done to the poor laptop Pauline???
hope you can get to the computer in the morning
I too wonder what strix will come up with
I stand no chance ((((((((((((((((
Nor me Jan...

I think my hard drive is on the blink. I miss it!
Why have I been asterixed!??
I don't think I have experienced (or is it suffered?) Strix's links before. Is he really weird?
Weird? Moi ? Don't even go there.

Of course not, I am sweet as a nut.

AND the links tomorrow are so kind as almost be a give-away - BUT just wait......
sweet as a nut or nutty as a fruitcake? I can't wait!
Good evening all and thanks gen2 for standing in for crofter at short notice.
The last time strix set the links (back in 2008) I got one point - so should be able to equal that I suppose.
Thanks anyway strix for agreeing to set the links
tearinghair...he is mad as a hatter!
sounds promising...
arran sweater is going well!! :-))
Excellent news. When you've finished it you'll have to make a hat and scarf to match!
That should be a doddle after this! :-)
Am in a skittish mood this evening. Going to a school reunion tomorrow; you know the sort of thing, girls (Gentlemen, look away now): "How lovely to see you again. Just remind me, who were you?", "Well she hasn't worn very well!" "I know I have a few grey hairs, but hers is completely white!" etc etc.
A hat and scarf with sleeves... I've never seen those before!!

Good evening Pauline, glad to see that you seem to be back on form.
tearinghair...and she needs to iron the creases out!! ....miaow! :-))
Have fun...

twix...that could start a new trend... I shall have to knit a long balaclava!
Yes, it is extremely good news to have Pauline back flapping her wings in the shrubbery!
It was beginning to feel quite safe and cosy for the Strix to come fluttering in without any apparent danger around.
And NOW I am being advertised, in advance of tomorrow's MM Links, as some kind of looney who has been allowed out (probably with an ASBO anklet) only on licence !!!!!!!
Cheers, Pauline!
