For a moment I thought it was a shame that the modified entries did not in general form real words, but then realised that had they done so it would probably have been possible to complete the puzzle without understanding the theme, which would have been a shame. Thanks, Schadenfreude, for another delight.
Thanks cruciverbalist - a few copies of CAM used to arrive regularly, but not any more. Presumably they are now sent out electronically.

Been watching this thread to see if there were any additions.
I agree with 3 of your extra word locations, but the preamble tells us that they are from 'normally entered' clues. 49a is not normally entered, although it does contain the extra word which I was looking for! Surely this was an error!
