National Dish

Our local pub is celebrating St. Paddy's day by giving all of it's customers a free portion of Irish ham hock and Colcannon (Mash mixed with cabbage & spring onions) which they say is an Irish national dish, Bearing in mind that they will also be celebrating St. Georges day they are asking customers what they consider to be the English national dish, So quite simply what is it ?

Fish and chips but I would prefer sausage and mash, with onions of course.

Roast beef and yorkshire pudds?
Hot pot?
Cottage/shepherds pie?
Curry (???)
Tripe (yuck)

Followed by trifle maybe?

As for the national dish, Bangers and mash sounds good to me! Aslong as I get peas to mix in with my mash and gravy!
