Big cat say now drowned ( 9 ). I think the letters are -y-n-e-s- . However cannot find a single word to fit so maybe one of the letters is wrong. Any ideas?

I had thought of Lyonnaise but can't make it fit the the clue other than it sounds like lioness. Also it would make one of my other answers wrong. "fury finding beer clubs closed?" I had put Alecto,but lyonnaise would make the "e" an "a" as the third letter.
