Does anyone know where this is today? Can't work it out at all ...
"This city sits between mountains and desert, and is a strange mix of influences. Its most famous restaurant has Greek heritage, a French sounding name and walls covered with signed photographs of Hollywood stars. Once a colonial power's garrison town, it is now popular with holidaymakers from that country. Name the city"

Hope someone might be able to give me a push in the right direction. Cheers, Chox.

Casablanca? Morocco has much French influence, sand and sea, Humphrey Bogart filmed there... lots fit.

Thanks so much, boxtops, appreciate your help.

The odd thing about this week's Viewfinder Competition is that the picture of gladiators fighting was taken in the Coloseum, Rome. It appears to have nothing to do with the text or the other pictures!
