me and my husband fancy an old fashioned meal out. he's hankering after a good porterhouse steak or a torenados rossini. Can you still get them or are we a bit out of date?
I know many places are all slow braised belly pork, lamb shanks and ox cheeks these days!
Can anyone recommend a place? We are near blackpool but don't mind a run out.

I'm a bit of a steak philistine as I have to have mine well done as can't eat it rare or even close though I have to say I tried chateaux briand in The Grill on the Alley in Manchester (one of my favourite places for steak here alongside the Gaucho Grill) and it was very nice.
Saying that I love it in Cafe Rouge, just simple with a lovely peppercorn sauce and french fries.

I have to say I have always preferred a homemade roast, my mum's then mine (though because I cook it like my mum :)).
I remember my ex raving about my mum's roast dinner until he found out how properly it was cooked with lard and such and rapidly changed his mind! I'd tend to do one for us by doing a bit of brisket in water then using the stock for gravy and the roasties in olive oil but never the same as the mum way.

Thanks crisgal. Lost mine 6 years ago and still miss him. Got him as a rescue dog and had never heard of them before. Would definitely have another one if I could but I live in sheltered housing and not allowed. Came as a bit of a shock to hubby as he had only had German Shepherds before but he spoilt him rotten.
Had a run out today and came across this place, and thought of you!

It's only a mile or two from the M6, so not too far for you I would have thought

how nice of you spud!
we went to the steakhouse at knott end. it was very nice - hubby got his rossini and i had a delicious porterhouse.
I would definitely recommend it.
That place does look good, though doesn't it?
I think we'll try that next time, and then buenchico's steak and burger in blackburn.
YUM!
