In a muddle about NCD!

Hi, I admit it, i am being dense!
I've managed to get my head all in a twist on my NCD. Hoping someone can put me straight.

So, my insurance renewal date is Mid June. My driving test pass date and when i first insured a car is 6th Feb.

In June 2009 when i renewed i had 4 years NCD. I did not protect it at renewal.

On 29th Oct 2009 my car was stolen, and then recovered 3 days later. I made a claim on my insurance for the damage.

So, what i do know is that although the theft was not my fault, i still lose NCD.

Where i am getting all befuddled, is how many years NCD i will have at renewal in June 10?

Is it 2, the 4years i had in June 2009, minus 2 years for a claim? ( I had a fault claim in 2005 and they took 2 years not all of it)
Is it 3- the 4 years, minus 2 years for a claim, plus the year since 2009?

Or is my Hubby right when he says i lose ALL my NCD, so will be at zero till June 2011?

In case it helps, i am with Virgin Insurance.

It depends on how your insurer/prospective insurer treats it. in theory you have no NCD now but somecompanies operation a sliding scale- eg you may lose 2 years.
Ask your insurer and shop around
Factor 30 is right it does depend on your Insurer.
(how is your vision now by the way?)

Thanks peeps.
Tried ringing my insurer today, and the answer was.... ta da da da... er. "the claim shows as closed, but it doesnt say anything about what we have done to your NCD so we dont know". So i am to call back on Monday when someone who has half a clue might be able to help. I guess the only positive is, if they havent decided, i might have half a chance of arguing my case if they try and take the lot? Do i have a chance of arguing my case?

Seems a little unfair to take the lot when it wasnt my fault it got stolen AND it was recovered with fairly minimal damage. We shall see.

York- thanks for your concern. I have an appointment at the optician next week. It seems to be OK, but i havent tried the contact lenses again since, nor tried another flight so want the peace of mind of hving the check anyway.
Are you the kira whoom we gave advice to, some while ago with respect to a personal injury claim - if so , what was the outcome ?

Hi Berti.
Yup, that was me!
The accident was in Jan 09. I had an insurance medical check in June after the physio initial ended. The 3rd party tried to reject blame but eventually gave in and accepted in July and accepted the full claim made from my insurer. Had a few problems getting the money out of them- cheques in the wrong name, cheques cancelled for no reason after i received them, but got there in the end!

Success. Only having phsyio on adhoc basis now, as back is much better.

Thanks for asking!
