Best exercise for losing weight and getting fit
4 Answers
I have recently started running mainly to lose weight but also to get fit. At first it was horrible and I hated but I'm actually starting to enjoy it now (its a miracle). I've been running 4 times a wk and as I'm trying to build it slowely each time I have run for 2 miles then 'power walked' back for 2 miles at a rate of 4mph. Problem is, I think I have shin splints, my shins (or very close to my shins) hurt quite badly, they're ok when I start but after 2 miles they're very painful then hurt for the rest of the day (i run in the morning). Anyway, I rested for a week and ran again this morning having also purchased some shock absorbing insoles for my trainers, whilst I was running and walking back it was fine, no pain at all so I was very happy but now I'm sat here and the pain is back :-(
So, now I'm frustrated as I really was enjoying it and could see that I was improving in fitness and have also lost 4 pounds. My weight is 134 pounds and I'm want to lose a further 7 pounds but as I haven't got alot to lose its proving quite difficult.
Anyway, to get to the point, I know I absolutely have to rest my legs but what else can I do, I can't just stop now, I could cycle but surely this doesn't burn as many calories and help fitness as well as running does??
Help!!
