I hope we continue to show our patriotism. We should love our country all the time, not just when
it's about sport. How much longer are you going to keep your flags on your vehicles and homes?

I do love my country - fiercely - but when a team are given the honour of playing for their country & show no desire to achieve greatness, I feel heartsick.
I am proud of my country, It 's just the football team I am ashamed of. I always wear a red rose on Saint George's day too. But I do understand what you say, lots of people will reject England just because of football.

sorry Lie-in-king [what do us women know about sport, anyway].You may go off and
drown your sorrows now.
Although I am English, not a big football fan but this morning I went into my town centre to watch the Armed Forces Parade. I live in Lincs so we are surrounded by the RAF so the parade consisted or mainly RAF personnel plus veterans with their medals gleaming in the sunshine, and the Air Cadets with the RAF band from the local RAF college. It was fantastic, with the Union Flags waving and everybody cheering. It made me proud to be British nevermind English
Like the other answers, I love my country, am very patriotic. Don't generally dislike foreigners but I am terrible when it comes to sport and can't stand them. I remember 1966 and as I see it we had MEN playing not big girls blouses.
Lie-in King sums it up when he says a team given the honour and show no desire.

Since Martin Johnson's England team won the Rugby World cup we have been well and truly thumped by the Southern Hemisphere teams but every one of those players have given their all with pride for the nation and the three Lions epitomised by Joe Worsley striding back on the pitch head stitched and bandaged - players so exhausted they could drop.
They don't earn the mega bucks of our football world cup squad but the passion and pride they play with so as not to disgrace the shirt and what it represents was non existent today
So glad England is out how we will see some football
