Name the marine painter, an official war artist to the Admiralty in WW2, who they later commissioned to paint the last battleship, HMS Vanguard, when she was towed out of harbour in 1960 to be broken up?
Rowland Langmaid was a painter and etcher of marine subjects. Langmaid was on 1st December 1897 and was a pupil of W.L. Wyllie. Rowland Langmaid served in the Royal Navy and attained the rank of Lt. Commander. Langmaid lived in London and died on 11th February 1956. http://www.art-gallery.co.uk/pages/artists/langmaid/lang maid-zoom09.html
After much searching I came up with Randal Wilson. He did paint many warships during WW2 including HMS Vanguard. Wether he painted the ship in 1960 or not I don't know. http://www.military-art.com/randall_wilson.htm
