1) if you divided 20 apples between 'n' numbers of boys, how many apples would each boy get?

1) is impossible to answer unless we know what these 'n' numbers are. Or do you mean 'n' boys?
If the latter I seem to remember that one of my many puzzle and recreational maths books makes a distinction between dividing the apples AMONG n boys (in which case they receive 20/n each) and dividing the apples BETWEEN them, in which case the answer is different but I can't remember what! Must find the book if I can.
