London Freedom Pass

I am shortly due to receive a London Freedom Pass having reached 60. I know that I can use the pass on all London Underground, DLR and nearly all England bus routes, but I am having trouble understanding which Train Services / Destinations my card will be valid on? I believe all trains out of London are free (?) but I am confused as to how far out of London one may travel, and if there are any Train companies that have restrictions?

I have looked on the Freedom Pass / TfL website but find the Train information very confusing!

Apart from this, are there anything else I should know about these cards?

Hello... It would seem the pass is available for use on the tube lines. There is a map on this link. As for out of London, you cannot use this pass on:

Arriva Cross Country
Grand Central
Hull Trains
East Midlands Trains
Gatwick Express
National Express East Coast
Virgin Trains
Heathrow Express
Heathrow Connect between Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow.

There are two maps one telling you the borough to borough exclusions and the other is a travel map telling you what lines you can use for free.

Hopefully Buenchico will be on later and he is usually a font of knowledge when it comes to travel =)

You've already had multiple answers to this question which you duplicated.

You can travel on any train in the London zonal area with the exception of the Heathrow Express and Connect for the last bit to Heathrow.

The list greedyfly has supplied is of train companies that don't stop in the zonal area after leaving their London terminal so they aren't providing any usable service to you.

I have one and the way I understand it that you can travel on a train from your local station to as far as the underground train goes after that you pay the excess.
i.e if I want to go from Barking to Southend on the train, my pass takes me as far as Upminster [ also an underground terminus] and after that I have to pay from Upminster to Southend on arrival at my destination.

you may also be able to do that at stations earlier in the journey, Dee Sa - you just get given a ticket from Zone 6 boundary to Southend, I think.
