Hi factor - not trying to start an argument & can't stop long (visitor on way), but I'm curious as to why this seems to be a bother?

Surely it's quicker to answer than to hunt a previous answer down and point to it?

It may show some laziness (or lack of knowledge re the site) on the part of some Q'ers, but essentially, so what?

I think this is guidance rather than a rule. But ne w questions often get relegated down the page by questions which have already been answered.

in the above case the answer had already been answered in the link I gave.

I just want people to be aware that the search facility is worth using.
