Must be the hardest Saturday Times that I have evr tried. Anyone agree? Even when I get a possible answer I can't work out why.
25a Author's hurried notes kept separate by FA (7) R - N - O - E Looks like RANSOME, God knows why.
26a Ulster's second row opening holdall, slowly revealing shiny new top? (7) B - L - I - G BALDING?
13a Rum punch, conclusively fine end to party (5) K - - - Y KINKY?
As usual thanks for help out there.

13a Ko ok y.....Ko (punch) ok (fine) y (end of party) = Rum
26 Bag (hold all) L (Ulster's second) Din (row) =B a l din g
Question Author
Thanks K, I KOOKY just sprung into my head, must be putting the question down that triggers something in the old brain.
25a RANSOME [author]

hurried = RAN
in the tonic sol-fa, fa is between me and so = SO ME
I can see RAN (hurried) O ( Fanny Adams) so SME must be notes ?
26a: I think BALDING is right. Ulster's second [letter]id L; holdall is BAG (BAldinG); row (noise) is DIN (balDINg. Does that help?

But I can't get 19d. Land in debt after raising something for one's retirement (4.3) I have T_I_ , B_D. Is it something BED?
