Do you think it would be a good idea to have AB teams of about 6 in each team. You could choose to be in either team A or team B . We could then have a quizzmaster, asking say, 10 questions and the first team to answer all corrrectly wins ?

Got to get to work now but will be back about 2pm to see any reaction

I'm in!
My thanks for your kind comments, Sci-Fi and TheOtherHalf. I came by my user-name...partially, at least...because at one time I was running different weekly quizzes in three separate pubs.
As long as I'm not involved in any Admin & Org, which I can see might well be problematic, I'd be happy to start digging out questions once more. Gie's a shout here if it gets off the ground.

Quizmaster- you could but your answer would be seen by all and they could get in before you
How do we know which team we're in?
Question Author
Thanks Quizmonster

I would be willing to give it a go on my day off which is this Friday so I could keep track of the teams and see what time the last correct answer was given and by which team.
So if you could organise some questions for Friday 27th from about 8pm ?
And if Aber Leaders could post their name on a heading and teams could congregate under their preference of leader just by putting their name. What do you think ? and perhaps we could give it a trial run on Friday then
I'm up for it (the team idea obviously)
I am happy to act as quizmaster and am already arranging something similar for individual players on a quiz site I run. I can soon adapt it to accommodate teams instead of individual players.

To stop conferring on the boards, how about interested parties email me with a contact address and I email them the questions and email addresses of their team members so they can discuss answers off-site before emailing me back their team answers? This will allow team members to confer without other teams seeing their answers.

To avoid "googling", I could make some music questions and picture questions which would be harder to look up if the teams agree.
Ah! It's pretty clear that Squarebear is far more up-to-speed on running online quizzes - of which I have no experience whatsoever - than I am, so I hereby defer to his greater knowledge in this matter.
Good luck to all of you. Enjoy!

Squarebear- that sounds great. You are obviously a better organiser than me but I would have given it a go. We dont want to upset Quizmonster though as he has already offered, I think, but if you have some questions ready perhaps you could do the first one. Would you still want me to keep track or can I join in ? I dont mind either way. Would you be able to start if on Friday as thats my only day off this week ?
Sorry I didn't want to tread on anybody's toes. I was merely offering my services and ideas. I am happy to let the organisation go to whoever wants to run it,
Believe me, my toes have in no way been trodden on and nor am I in the least upset. I am delighted that someone with REAL knowledge of exactly how to run what is proposed has appeared. It's all yours, SB!
Thanks Quizmonster.

In that case, could I ask that any interested parties form teams of about 4 people each. If you have no preferences who you play for, let me know here and I will allocate you to a team. I believe the easiest way for you to talk to each other without seeing each other's answers is for you to have a separate section of a forum.
I see no way to do this on answerbank (unless the ED can help) so I will suggest you register to http://triviasquares.proboards.com/index.cgi which is a forum I use on another quiz site.

This way, I can limit you to only look at the section you are allocated to so no peeping over the other teams' shoulders :-)

In the meantime, I will put together say 30 questions on various subjects and formats and put a link to them here. The teams should look/listen to the questions then confer with each other via the forum before selecting their answers.

Once I have all the team's entries, I will post them here and mark them. The winner will be the team with the most correct. In the event of a tie, we shall have a tie break question which the tieing teams should discuss and the captain inform me of their answer.

Does this sound ok? I am open to any improvements/suggestions.

Ed - Any chance of making this a sticky?

Wow Squarebear - that all sounds great. I wondered how we would get round people looking at other teams answers. You are obviously used to this. Can you let us know when its all starting ? I`ll have to keep my eyes open as I only come on here on my breaks during the day. I dont want to miss anything
Thanks again SB
Unless the Ed makes it a sticky, I doubt it will start.

Anyway, I've put together 30 questions ready if anybody wants to play.
I'll keep my eyes peeled for progress.

Help... our new computer at home is having problems and I was hoping to watch the progress of this happening and wont be in work again until Sunday. I may have to go in tomorrow just to go on this computer and see whats happening.

I really hope it gets off the ground as Squarebear has already put so much effort into it, so come on you lot. I hope all of you who sounded so enthuiastic have signed up and Good Luck
Only one person has joined so far, beejay1124.

I don't plan on running it unless we get at least 2 teams of 4.
Thanks squarebear for posting to direct me here, had completely missed this. Thanks also to The OtherHalf for the idea in the first place.

I've signed up to the forum. Will we get an email about when this will start, assuming it does?
Kawakiri, present.
Will make this sticky in just a moment.

Spare
