I've got an old Dinky toy, the Dinky 978 Refuse Wagon, here is a page about it http://nigelsworld.ho...ast/detail.php?ID=531

I've been trying to find a picture of the actual duscart it was based on. Did they exist? This Bedford cab was also used in at least four other different Dinky trucks, so there is a possibility this only ever existed as a Dinky toy to save them having to design a cab based on an actual refuse wagon.

The Bedford TK was common in the 1960s and 70s, so there must have been a dustvan based on it?

I've nothing to base this answer on except an interest in trucks for 45+ years and driving them for 25+ years, but I don't think there would have been a TK dustcart. When it came out, it was a premium lorry and I don't think it would have been 'wasted' as a dustcart. Also at the time, councils were far more likely to use a chassis supplied by Dennis, Commer or Karrier and subsequently the refuse body was designed to fit these marques. I've looked through several websites and failed to find any pictures or any evidence to support my theory, but I think it more likely that Dinky used a casting they had and put a refuse body on it.
Hi, as sddsddean I used to drive the TKs as a 4 wheel tipper, they where the first UK rest cabs with a parcel shelf behind the drivers seat although not to the standards that the trucks have nowadays the TK was a walk through cab, Earnest Action had a few in the Building trade they where from Manchester. the truck was a really good work horse, below the N/S + Off/S Side windows you had lift up engine inspection covers, regards a refuse wagon I don't think i had ever seen one

OK thanks for the answers. I only remember the Shelvoke and Drewry dustcarts in the 1970s.
