Should AB have a Miscellaneous Section.?

I ask the question because, having this evening watched on TV the Last Night of the Proms, I wished to post a poser about songs which have become traditional in the Royal Albert Hall.

However, I couldn't find a suitable section.......'Music' seemed to be outers because of it being more Pop than Classical and I didn't want to post into 'ChatterBank' which is somewhat 'musically' discordant.

It was my intention to suggest that Britannia no longer rules the waves and that no longer are we seeking Jerusalem to be builded in our green and pleasant land.

What say you folks...........Ron.

Count.....I agree fully with your opening and closing remarks but cannot appreciate your view that resident experts would stay away from a Miscellaneous section. I take the view that a Miscellaneous section would attract more than just experts; out of sheer curiosity: it certainly would me.

Best wishes ....Ron.

could be Society & Culture, since the music isn't really your main point anyway?

Could be news since it's just happened?

Could be history since Jerusalem has been around a while?

Could be Home & Garden because that's where your telly is?

Okay, I'm stretching things a bit here.
there is already a thread on Chatterbank about it
Posts on Last Night Of the Proms on Chatterbank and Media, proper category for it was TV, but then very few people on Answerbank post in appropriate categories! Just make the site Chatterbank and Miscellaneous!
I'd like a section on dreams, where you describe a dream you had and other ABs could suggest meanings for it. Maybe as part of the Body & Soul section?

Cut out the middle man and go straight to the top!
Funny you should say that. I, too, thought how inappropriate are the words we still sing with great fervor and gusto! Think it's the tunes that really matter; the words are just something to pin the notes to as we join in with the orchestra!

And yes, it would be good to have a miscellaneous section.
I agree with noth, Chatterbank is the place where all topics are open to discussion.
there was a miscellaneous section next to the bottom of the topoc listing back in about 2004/05, then chatterbank arrived (version 1) and they put that at the bottom of the listing, then when all the sub-topics were added, (2007 I think) they removed misc.
"having this evening watched on TV the Last Night of the Proms,"

What's wrong with posting your question in http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Media-and-TV/ ? I find there to be quite suitable.

There are so many Topics and Sub-topics sections and still there's need for a miscellaneous section?

I'll pick-up this thread in the morning and no doubt comment further. However, before going off to bed, I will say that jno has illustrated my dillema....There are numerous sections in which I could post.......However, my problem is, which would have been the best.?

I've looked at the thread on CB and , whilst it seems sensible at the moment, I am honestly afraid that, if I were to comment in that section, I could become subjected to verbal abuse for no real reason whatsoever.

Hi folks.....I think I made a mess of this one.!!

Perhaps I should have just stuck with my question ( Should AB have a miscellaneous section ?) and avoided explaining why I was enquiring about the possibility of such a section being set-up.

Anyway, as it seems that ChatterBank is currently regarded as the Miscellaneous Section I shall bow-out at this stage and await to see if the ED has any comments on the matter.

In the meanwhile I wish to thank you all for having given me your opinions on the item concerned.

Best wishes.....Ron.
hi ron :)
whenever i'm in doubt about where to ask a question, i put it in chatterbank, although maybe your question about the proms i'd have put in media.
don't let anything put you off posting in any section, just ignore the daft/verbally abusive posters, there's generally a lot of sane folk around too.
love and kisses, eth x
Questions requiring opinions as responses should perhaps be put in Chatterbank, and maybe that ought to be split into lighthearted and serious strands.

Hi ethandron....Hope your are keeping ok.

Viv and I always avoid ChatterBank because of the nastiness which it is prone to. However, if it's the only one for miscellaneous items, we must think further about posting into it at some time.

Good point bibblebub

What you have to ask yourself is 'Where wil I get the best response to this question?' Your Proms Q could have gone in either Music or Media & TV. A miscellaneous catagory would be useless as it wouldn't attract any of our resident experts. Don't forget that an unanswered Q will appear in the 'unanswered questions' box, regardless of catagory.
