I bookmarked that link last night because I was planning to post it in Chatterbank this evening with the question "Which accent would you most (or least) like to suddenly acquire?" For me, most accents would be OK, with the possible exception of South African ;-)

The pedigree of Eyre, my family, records that some of my ancestors were of french origin, a part of my makeup that I feel deeply ashamed of , the french in my experience are cowardly, introspective, rude, arogant and, liars!, a truly despicable race who devised the eec together with germany to take over europe for their joint ends.
this is more common than you may think...
there are thousands of second or third generation black kids in this country talking in strange accents..
these kids need to get a 'laff' oops hope i dont offend you or i might get threatened with 'a naff'

living as I do in France Prudentia, I have found that the French do have all the qualities you describe, but they don't individually have all or any of them and they don't have them any more than the British. There is nothing wrong with a bit of introspection and nobody should be ashamed of their ancestors after all we can't choose them, so cannot be blamed for it.
