As we prepare for the final round of MM Links set by “The Lady Radley” (aka Handbaglady), I face a minor crisis for which I issue the following SOS.

October is a five-week month and I have just booked a last-minute break in the Canary Islands, which means that I am unavailable for weekends #1 and #2. My regular substitute is gen2 and he is unavailable during weekends #2 and #3.

There are various possibilities:
(1) Hope that the winner of this month’s game is an old hand at MM Links (and a previous MM Champion) and can run the whole show single handed (at least until I return in time for weekend #3).
(2) Have the winner of this month’s game supervised by an experienced volunteer who will also act as scorer (at least until I return in time for weekend #3).
(3) Have gen2 score weekend #1 and (when I return) I can score weekends #3 to #5. We would then only need a volunteer to cover for weekend #2.
(4) Have a break at weekend #2 and simply play a four-week month over October. This presents a few problems but could be made to work.
(5) Something else.

This is the first time in nearly five years that we have experienced difficulty in providing cover to service MM Links. I am sure we can find a workable solution and your views will be most welcome.
Crofter, which limb are you proposing to break in the Canary Islands?

Lady Radley has proved a most enthusiastic setter and over the phone she has a very youthful voice. I gently probed to find her actual age ~ but she (rightly) refused to disclose. How could I have acted so brutishly? I wish her well for her final round and thank her for her constant light-heartedness. Hopefully the points will start to flow when she opens on AB at 08.45am and declares her four words to be linked at 9.00am. That’s when MM Links kicks off in earnest and do remember ~ early MM hits gain bonus points!

There should be no such problems with the international version of this same game which is called KM Links and kicks off at a very early hour (which is difficult to predict precisely). Consequently, the timing of your posting is deemed to be irrelevant ~ only the number of hits you are able to register. It should be “business as usual” from the regular organiser of KM Links comes all the way from Oz ( Roo-land) and is my good friend, “seekeerz”.

Why not chance your arm at both Link Games? You have nothing to lose. Both games remain open for most of the weekend and all entries are scored and entered on to master scoreboards. This weekend will bring glory to two revered September Links Champions.

Until I see you tomorrow, may I wish you ~ “Happy Linking”!

:o)
I volunteer Strix...any seconders?
Hi crofter
I don't like option 4 - even if it is a five-week month I would be getting withdrawal symptoms without my Saturday morning 'fix'. I'd be happy with any of the old hands (in terms of experience, not (necessarily!) age, to stand in for you and gen2.
I will be away week 3 also.
I think, Pauline, you missed a full stop "I volunteer. Strix...any seconders?"
Smart Alec!! That's why you are more than capable of keeping us all going!
It's bad enough putting up with Reg AND Sarumite tonight...he is here on a visit as you may know. They try to be brave when they are together.
I second your suggestion, Pauline. He definitely knows how many beans make five, computer-wisel, if nothing else.
been a bit blustery here hope everyone is ok
i second Pauline
Strix would be great for a stand in
very blustery here too Jan..poor Sarumite has nearly been blown away!
are you taking kites to yorkshire tomorrow???
how far into deep dark yorkshire are you going?
We're going as far as the croft!
I think we will have to anchor ourselves down....
great views from there,
as you say anchor yourselves down!
Hi, not breezy in Lichfield but very chilly. I think Strix would be a good links setter, but as I am not around very much perhaps I shouldn't say (but when i am here I never get any points!!)
Maybe you should run it Kay!! :-))
But the Car Boot calls Pauline !!!!
I'm just back from the local theatre to find a crisis meeting in progress in the shrubbery.

If I am reading this right, I think Crofter should take a look at Strix's post at 19:36 - not at what he says, but what he doesn't say ;-)

Is the owl behaving like an ostrich and hoping the problem will go away?
Hi gen2...I think you should delegate ....to Strix
