According to the diary of today's Mail On Sunday, Ann Widdecombe (and Anton du Beke) has been getting many more votes than any other contestants on Strictly. There is, stupidly, no dance-off this year and as we know the public loves to vote for underdogs and jokers, and the BBC can't afford any more vote-rigging scandals, so Widdecombe has to be firm favourite despite the talents of Scott-t-t-t-t, Kara and Pamela. I suggest the BBC annoiunces ASAP that they'll reintroduce the dance-off for the last few rounds, otherwise this series will end in farce. What do you think?

not quite sure I follow this... somebody's ahead so they're going to win... is that a problem? Do you want to introduce artificial competition?
Not sure why it's a farce, when someone who most people didn't think stood much of a chance, actually looks like a winner. Good on her.
Could she really be John Sergeant in drag? While he walked away from last years show the smell of the crowd and the roar of the greaspaint might be drawing him back.
No sandy, that would be Jo Brand ;-)
she can dance on my sensibilities any time, boxtops
think she's a terric sport to have a go and think she looked much better last night than in previous rounds - maybe even a little slimmer. Wish she would stop pre-empting the judge's remarks though. As for winning, maybe the BBC need to difine whether this is a dance competition or an entertainment show. Either way not really any skin off my nose so good luck to them all (cept maybe flexible Felicity who for some reason irritates me to pieces! - sorry)
Surely skill should be rewarded and not just because she's a good laugh? The competition should be won by the best dancer. If she is still in towards the end I think she would leave much like Sargeant.

My problem is that I fear people are laughing at her not with her.
I think the contestants, the judges, the public and, more importantly, Ann herself realise that it would be a travesty if she were to win. She's entertaining but she's not a particularly good dancer and this show is (or should be) about picking the best dancers.

She's not stupid, and she's no stranger to being opposed and even laughed at in the past, so I really don't think this will worry her too much, Matt. Like many of them, she's on that show for exposure. She sees a career as a TV personality rather than as politician and this his how she's going to show she can do it.

I think she will do a John Sargent. She'll go so far and then, if the public still votes for her, will bow out gracefully.

And if she's done nothing else, she's shown that the older, more portly and less athletic among us can still enjoy and benefit from dancing.
I'm with you carmalee, especially with regard to FC, she really irritates me also with all those ridiculous facial expressions.
Mattk, I don't think people are laughing at AW; I think they are really finding her quite entertaining. BB
Ann to win Strictly, and Wagner to win X Factor..............this would hopefully be the death knell for both shows.

I hope she doesn't - it's embarrassing to watch!! Matt, Scott-t-t-t-t, Pamela and Kara (in that order) are the 4 best DANCERS!
she's a game old bird, bit like me ;-)
Me too Bobbi - I call myself 'Coq-au-vin' - an old bird stewed in wine!
nice one saxy, I will hav to think of a sexy name for a vodka soaked Geordie..
any ideas..LOL
hello???? its just a TV show!!!
aye but she's real woof, isn't she?
Well .. It's supposed to be judged not on technical dance expertise .. but entertainment, isn't it? Otherwise they would have been out first round.
So it's hardly a farce.
I thought Craig and Bruno were really rude to her last night- there is no need for insulting remarks is there?
I think she's very brave, and a good sport to boot, but Matt to win me thinks (also have a dislike for Falicity)
