I think I recently saw an advert on the TV saying Comet provide that service
Currys do, for a fee.

Not a personal recommendation, just an answer.
why not try your local Euronics centre?

If you have an Independent Family Retailer near you, you might get a better deal from them and they may also take your old WM away.
You will have to pay Currys and Comet for installing a new WM, not sure what they charge for this service though, you would have to ask at the Store.

Thanks for that all. It's got to be cheaper and quicker than a plumber.
Anyone with minor DIY skills would fit it for a beer, I'm sure (one hose and one 13A plug) ... and your council would probably do a 'special' collection to remove the old one, if you're looking for a cheap solution.

True, true naz. I can do the plug it's the water bit I'm not sure of.
You should have something like this (albeit with a blue valve-handle), the washing machine hose simply screws onto there, ensuring you have the rubber washer in the hose-end first.

No harder than attaching a garden-hose fitting really.

Phwaw!! Just seen that Currys want £84.00 to fit it. No. Thank. You.
I'll have a go myself, thanks Naz.
I` ve just got a new washing machine for my Mum and it was installed by Currys on Monday night. Both Comet and Curries charge about £45 to take the old one away and install the new one. The price I got at Currys was better which is why I got theirs (there was a sale) but when I was in Comet, the guy offered to do free installation and removal of the old one to clinch the sale. Definitely worth a try.
Chrissa -me again: should have mentioned this - if you have a small, independent retailer, you can often get a better "package". My new Miele washer was £20 less than anyone else was charging and included delivery, disconnection, connection and disposal - all free. Sorry not to mention it earlier.

Thanks all. I've bought a Beko from Tesco. Free delivery, free scrap removal and installation for £19.00 which I thought was not bad. It'll be here on Monday too.
I've had a very happy afternoon's shopping too, in front of the fire.
Excellent chrissa, tell us what it's like, on Monday!
I see you're sorted, but for future reference John Lewis do all the above.
Question Author
Cheers all.
Comet did mine, plumbed and took away the old machine, and the pre delivery service was excellent too.
They didn't even flinch at getting the machine up 4 floors with no lift!
Question Author
It's here but the old one wouldn't come out because of a newER laminate floor. Anyone got a crowbar??
Is it under a kitchen worktop?

If so, it will be easier to release the front of the worktop and raise it a little than it will be to cut a piece from a laminate floor.
Question Author
How do I raise the worktop? I'm on How it Works too!!
The worktop 'should' be screwed through the front of the cupboards from underneath.

You'll need to open any adjacent cupboard doors and look up into the top-front of the cupboard ... if you see screw-heads then they're your ones.
