It is a main-sequence hydrogen-fusing dwarf (luminosity Class V) star like the Sun, but its spectral type is A1, so its surface temperature is about 9.880 K... much hotter than the Sun's. Sirius rotates in less than 5.5 earth days, which is at least 5 times faster than the Sun. For some reason, Sirius' spectrum shows it to be "metal rich", meaning that its iron content is about 3 times that of the Sun.
You know, of course that it is shadowed by Sirius "B"... a white dwarf companion... sometimes called the "Pup"... more information than you can possibly use. (Source: My well worn copy of "The Brightest Stars")
