drill comp tomorrow
46 Answers
the east anglia district cadet drill and piping competition is tomorrow!
Although i'm not going to be armed, I still have an important bit. Last year I was picked to be a colour escort (with a rifle, next to the colour (flag) bearer) because i was the same height as another person who was excellent at armed drill. But now they've left, two other people, the same height as each other have been picked. But TBH my bit is harder in some ways, as almsot everything i do is unprompted and I have to salute for the right amount of time, at the right moment and march to the correct place with no orders on my own. However, I don't have a rifle to worry about, but i would have been ok with one, even considering my slightly sweaty hands when holding them, considering it's at raf Honnington, which we've been told will be freezing cold, so we have to wear thermals.
Your predictions please? There are 7 units in the district, we came 6th last year (because one unit didn't enter the colour party competition), but the riffles we now have are easier to handle and we've had more practice than last year, and my uniform (which we get marked on) is a lot better than last year . . . .
ps the colour party is the only thing i'm entered for, some others from my unit are piping, induvidually and as a team (syncronised) but there are other competition on tomorrow for armed squads, and unarmed squads, so there'll be a lot of hanging around, so i'm going to take some homework to do. I'll probably take a past maths paper to do, at least if I get stuck, one of the other people going from my unit does a-level maths aswell so we should be able to work it out between us :D

If you win, you get to go through to the area comp, then if you win that, nationals.
BTW even though it's called east anglia disrict, it's really only norfolk and suffolk. And then the districts in the eastern area apart fom mine are; cambridgeshire& bedfordshire, fens, hertfordshire, trent, northants &leicster, north east yorshire, west yorkshire aswell as south yorkshire & humberside, god knows where we'd have to go for that . . . and how early we'd have to get up in the morning!

I'll be the person that marches at the back of the colour pary, and after everyone's haulted, marches off on their own!
