Thank You very much oakwoodlynn. I had a search and at first it seemed like he was annoyed that she had abandoned him as a child but then I found this article:-

THE son of Dame Muriel Spark has spoken for the first time about the long-running feud with his mother which continued until her death last month.

The novelist’s only child did not attend her funeral and said there was no reconciliation between the pair before she died.

Robin Spark, an artist who lives in Edinburgh, had not seen his mother since 1998 when they had an argument about the family’s religion. He was angered by her apparent public denial of her Jewishness.
