Screaming Children
56 Answers
I don't have children so I guess I can't really have an opinion but I'm intruiged by something.
You are in a super market with your mum/nan and you have a toddler in the trolley. Your toddler is screaming blue murder the whole time you are in the supermarket. What do you do?

I hate to say it but I travel a lot and you rarely see this kind of behaviour in other cultures. It`s definately a Britsh/US phenomenon. You could walk around an Oriental (for example) supermarket all day and not see the tantrums you see here. I was waiting to cross the road in Singapore a while ago and a kid in a pushchair started screaming and everybody turned around to look because it`s so unusual. I`ve probably opened a can of worms now but I stand by what I say.
The woman didn't seem to be making any effort to try and calm the child, it was as if she couldn't hear him. Although I assume she was trying the ignore tactic.
The sound was horrendous and I'm sure they were following just to annoy me. I was sooooo tempted to walk over and bluntly tell the little darling to pack it in.
