I agree. Brighton are really flying at the moment and Stoke are always tough to beat at home.
Oh, hey guys ... that looks fab.

So Britannia is the name of Stoke's ground, obviously?

When is the game?

The Potters ?

Is that what Stoke are called ??

I don't really get excited about cup competitions, Stokey ... it's not like we're ever going to win one ...

... but I might have to have a good bet on this one.

What division are Stoke in ?
I've just Googled it ...

You're in the Prem.

Hmm ... maybe I won't have too big a bet.

lol jj
They have a good record against sides with "Albion" in their name...
Save your petrol money!
I don't go to away games, WBA.

I suppose that means I'm not a very good supporter.

=0(

If it was a League match, near the end of the season, and we were desperate for points, then I might go along to help shout. I went to Bristol at the end of the season when we were struggling to avoid being relegated.

I don't mind standing at Withdean in the freezing cold, and the bucketing rain, as long as we're only ten minutes away from the Caipirinha Bar and a few cocktails.

I know, I know ... cr@p, fair weather fan.
They are called The Potters because pottery manufacture was (and i stress was!) the major industry in this area for hundreds of years until cheap imports did us over.

The stadium is the Britannia Stadium because the Leek and Britannia Building Society originally sponsored its construction.

We are going to vapourise Brighton, and then rampage down to the Emirates and give Aresenal a long-overdue seeing-to in their back yard.
Dear Mr Hughes,

Good Morning sir.......i have just seen your comment in regards to Stoke vapourising Brighton ( fat chance!....whio said that?......lol ).... and then moving on to give the Gooners a long overdue seeing too, on their own ground.

And being i live in one..... and my two eldest support the other...........you leave me no choice
......i therefore challenge you to a duel, kind sir.......no you can choose.....either feather dusters, shove penny... or conkers in the autumn.......i warn you though...i once had a 52nd' er. ( impressive eh? )

Your team can come and try, but they will ultimately fail miserably........so happy days! :0)

Kind regards

Signed

Sir Yogi Of Bear woods.
andy ...

How do you know they'd get Arsenal in the next round?

Don't they have a draw, or something, for the next round?
Hi Yogi

I confess i got a little giddy with the mention of the Mighty Potters - and I have to condess that my interest in them is minimal at best. Of course, I have no intention of inflicting ritual humiliation on myself as a result of something so triffling ( as far as i am concerned!) as football.

I therefore refer you to the present Mrs Hughes who is a Potters fanatic with few equals - indeed, during her employment with the club on a Saturday as a mere slip of a girl, she was invited to sing along on the club song recording 'We'll be With You' which is played to this day at home games.

She will be delighted to take you on at conkers - as she enjoys any sport with a degree of violence attached. I just warn you, she is a seriously bad loser - just mention Arsenal and 1971 and 1972 - Cup Final knocl-out scenarios still felt with bitterness and bile as if they were yesterday ...
Hi JJ - never mind the draw - I am advised by the present Mrs Hughes (see post above) that our destiny lies with laying low the upstart Gooners - no, I don;t know what she's talking about either ...
LOL..........Andy

I hope your good Mrs enjoys the game against Brighton.......will be a closely fought match i think, and well worth a watch.

In regards to the aforementioned conkers battle with Mrs H, i may have to switch to using my cheating technique, which is to do with an oven, but mum's the word......lol
Not to worry, Mrs H will be up to any subterfuge you can manufacture - I may be on hand to hold her coat ...
